Fossilized or agatized coral is ancient sea coral that was buried millions of years ago and very, very slowly turned into microcrystalline quartz (agate). This beautiful gemstone was cut by the late Lorna Sheasby, a lapidary legend in Cape Town. I love the pattern made by the coral polyps and the rawness created by the gaps on the top of the stone. I designed this ring around the gemstone.
